Title: Still life
Medium: It is an original oil painting on canvas.
Igor Matselik's "Still Life" is in the style of Expressionism. His artwork was inspired by Cezanne's work after he moved away from strict realism towards personal expression.
I chose this piece because I was interested by the realistic details of it. I thought it would be an interesting piece to create because it has lots of dimension and lots of different aspects. I felt like this was a very creative project that would also be a challenge.
Plan: First I roll a ball of clay, Then I sculpt the pear by rolling it out and shaping a longer stem with a bigger base,. Next I will create the apple by rolling a ball, then indenting the top and bottom and scoring and slipping on a stem. Next I will create the lemon by rolling a ball and create two longer ends. Then hollow them out. Then I will roll a ball and create a pinch pot. Lastly I will under glaze them.
Reflection: I was happy with how this turned out. If I were to remake it I would have used more colors to give the pieces more dimensions.
